In Stromberg's possession is an ultra-sensitive submarine tracking system which he seems to be offering up for sale to the highest bidder. He captures a British sub and it's Bond's job to recover the tracking device and free the submarine. Complicating this mission is the gorgeous Major Anya Amasova, the Russions top agent and Stromberg's chief henchman, a towering giant with cobalt teeth nicknamed "Jaws". The Spy Who Loved Me delivers all the expected elements: spectacular stunts, dazzling special effects, mechanical wizardry, gorgeous girls, and exotic ladies. The car used in this film was actually 2 cars. One built for road driving and another built for underwater action. If I am not mistaken, this marks the first time the phrase, "Oh, James" is used by one of the "Bond Women". It occurs in the opening sequence of the film and is said by Sue Vanner, the "Log Cabin Girl". "Oh, James" becomes the most popular phrase used by those women who have "known" James intimately. (click on this cover graphic for those memorable words...) The largest soundstage in the world was built for "The Spy Who Loved Me". It was built at Pinewood studios to house the set that represents the belly of Stromberg's supertanker, Liparus. It contained at one time, 3 nuclear submarines. This soundstage was dubbed the 007 stage and has been used in such notable films as Star Wars and in the Indiana Jones series. -- part contents for background part 10 ----- text ----- Curt Jurgens as Stromberg Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova Caroline Munro as Naomi Bernard Lee as "M" Lois Maxwell as Moneypenny Desmond Llewelyn as "Q" Walter Gotell as Anatol Gogol Richard Kiel as Jaws Sue Vanner as Log Cabin Girl Title song by Carly Simon -- part contents for background part 9 ----- text ----- 2 Hrs. 5 Min.
